1) More than 37,000 people will die this year in Canada due to smoking tobacco industry products. 

2) Over a year, at one pack of cigarettes a day, a person will inhale 73,000 puffs of dangerous chemicals.

3) Among youth age 15-17 who smoke tobacco, almost 80% said they had tried smoking tobacco by age 14.

 4) True. Two thirds of the smoke from a cigarette is not inhaled by the person smoking. Instead, the smoke enters the air around them, clinging to clothing, walls, furniture, toys and pets.  

5) True. Tobacco smoke is the single most significant source of indoor air pollution in work environments.  Except in workplaces protected by law.  In Ontario, the Smoke Free Ontario Act protects workers from second-hand smoke.

6) Not using tobacco industry products, such as cigarettes, is the single most important way to prevent lung cancer. Smoking tobacco accounts for 85% of all new cases of lung cancer in Canada
